EV Charging Networks in Romania
Romania's EV charging infrastructure is growing rapidly, with major operators including Voltrelli, e-Charge, Enel X, MOL, Eldrive, and Tesla Superchargers. DC fast chargers (50-150 kW) are available along major highways and in city centers, allowing 20-80% charge in approximately 30-45 minutes. AC stations (7-22 kW) are common at shopping malls, hotels, and parking garages — ideal for overnight or workday charging.
Connector types available include CCS (Combo 2) for DC fast charging, Type 2 for AC charging, and CHAdeMO at some older stations. Most modern EVs sold in Europe use CCS for fast charging and Type 2 for AC. Tesla vehicles can use both Tesla Superchargers and CCS stations with the included adapter.
Tips for EV Drivers in Romania
Plan your route in advance using the map above. Highway coverage is good on A1 (Bucharest-Pitesti), A2 (Bucharest-Constanta), and A3 (Bucharest-Brasov). For longer trips through rural areas, charge to 80%+ before leaving major cities. Most charging stations accept contactless payment cards or operator-specific apps (Voltrelli, e-Charge, MOL Plugee).
