What does the fuel savings calculator do?

The PretCarburant.ro fuel savings calculator estimates the cost of a trip (liters used × fuel price) and how much you save by refueling at the cheapest station instead of the most expensive one in your departure city. You enter your average consumption (l/100 km), departure and destination city, and the calculator uses real prices from local gas stations to show the total cost and your monthly and annual savings.

How is fuel consumption calculated?

Fuel consumption is calculated using the formula: liters used = (distance in km × average consumption in l/100 km) ÷ 100. Total cost is then liters multiplied by fuel price. For example, a 300 km trip with a 7 l/100 km car at 8.65 RON/l costs 181.7 RON.

What is the average car consumption?

Accepted Answer

An average petrol car consumes between 5 and 8 l/100 km in mixed traffic, while a diesel car consumes between 4.5 and 7 l/100 km. SUVs and large cars can reach 9-12 l/100 km, while compact cars with small engines can go below 5 l/100 km. The calculator defaults to 7.5 l/100 km but you can change it.

What is the cost difference between petrol and diesel?

Today the average price of standard petrol in Romania is 8.65 RON/l and standard diesel 9.57 RON/l. Although diesel may be more expensive per liter, diesel engines consume 15-25% less, so on long trips the total difference reverses in favor of diesel.

Where does the price data come from?

Accepted Answer

Prices are collected from 1422 gas stations in Romania and updated every 2 hours from public sources (ANPC Price Monitor, direct SOCAR and OSCAR feeds, public pages of the major networks), providing a complete and up-to-date picture of the fuel market.
